NOTIFICATION FOR HON’BLE PRIME MINISTER’S MERIT
SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM THE
NATIONAL DEFENCE FUND
Applications are invited for the Prime Minister’s Merit Scholarship Scheme with financial assistance from the National Defence Fund for the Academic Year 2011-12.
The details of the scheme are as below:
1.INTRODUCTION :
‘Prime Ministers’ Scholarship Scheme was announced by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in his address to the nation from the Red Fort on 15 th August, 2005. It was introduced to encourage higher technical and professional education, viz. Medical, Engineering, IT and other technical subjects among the wards of windows and ex-servicemen of Armed Forces from the Academic Year 2006-07.
2. COURSES ELIGIBLE FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP :
First professional degree programme in engineering, medicine dental, veterinary, MBA, MCA etc. duly recognized by the respective government regulatory bodies, such as All India Council for Technical Education, Medical Council of India, UGC, etc.
Note: The scholarship is authorized for B.Ed Courses for 2 years only.
3. ELIGIBILITY:
The scheme will be open for widows and unmarried wards of Ex-RPF personnel (upto the rank of Inspectors). However, marriage/remarriage at a subsequent date would not disqualify the Awardees.
4. AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP :
(a) The amount of scholarship would be as follows :
[i] 15,000/- month for boys paid annually.
[ii] 18,000/- per month for girls paid annually.
